Cleopatra was found wandering and disoriented near the canal in Phibsboro, Dublin 7. We fear she may have been dumped there. We are looking for a verrrrrry special adopter for our verrrrrrry special beauty.
Our vet has given her a thorough healthcheck and has confirmed she is deaf, can’t see very well (seems to be neurological), has gingivitis, arthritis, mild kidney failure, not many teeth left and can’t groom herself very well – but other than that, she’s a content mature lady (approx 12 years old).
She requires specific veterinarian wet food for her kidneys, to which her fosterer adds extra water as she has no interest in her water bowl. She loves cat chicken cream, ham and steak (her fosterer gives her tiny pieces) and her reaction to these is crazy compared to her normal food – just beware! – if your hands are too close she might eat you as well. She usually uses her litter tray but sometimes choses the tiles instead. She loves attention and purrs away as soon as you touch her. Very occasionally, she will play with some toys but not on her own.
As a senior cat, she isn’t very active and prefers spending most of the day sleeping on the sofa; however, she is becoming more active as she is eating good food now and knows she is safe. Her fosterer has been recording her schedule and it’s very regular: every 2 to 3 hours during the day she’s going to walk around, eat some food, walk around again, do her business, come back for more food, then back on the sofa. She sleeps with her fosterers every night and meows when she can’t find them.
She needs an indoor only home, without any other animals as she wouldn’t be able to defend herself. She doesn’t meow and rarely makes strange noises (except when not happy in the car or when she’s happy to see you). She needs to be groomed, nails trimmed (not scratching on anything) and occasionally gently bathed if she smells too much like pee. Her fosterer bought some pet wipes to clean her behind as she doesn’t really clean herself. She needs people and loves human company but doesn’t seem to mind being on her own too much during the day as she’s mostly just sleeping.
Age: Approx 12 weeks
Spayed: Unknown, so assume not (she cannot be spayed now as she is too frail)
(Reduced cost vaccinations and microchipping available)
